Dilemma:
The feed water
pump on a boiler had failed. The original equipment
supplier could not provide the replacement parts
for thirteen months, while the client needed the
parts in less than four months.

Involvement:
The client called PTI to assess the pump, determine
the failure areas, redesign the components and
provide replacement parts for the boiler.

PTI
Solution:
After reverse engineering the failed housing,
PTI produced a computer based 3D model and a LOM
prototype for rapid tooling. PTI replaced the
failed housing by providing cast, machined and
assembled units to the client.

Client
Delivery:
A new 1400 lb. stainless steel housing was tested
and installed. The plant returned to service in
less than fourteen weeks. Had the client ordered
from the original equipment supplier, the plant
would have been down for over a year. |
