Client Dilemma:
The client wanted reduce production costs by redesigning a metal motor housing to be injection molded with plastic. The client lacked the knowledge in plastic design and 3D modeling to make the conversion.

PTI Involvement:
The client called on PTI to redesign the existing housings and create 50 plastic functional plastic prototypes. It was imperative that the housings met the tight design tolerances and desired material performance.

PTI Solution:
PTI used the client's existing 2D drawings to create ar 3D database in Pro Engineer. The 3D database was then used to create toolpaths for aluminum tooling. The tooling was then used to create the prototypes.
